Love Fooled Me

You heartless bastard, ironically enough.
To tantalize me with so much warmth.
And hold me captive to a young girls hearth.
The fire in it burning only for me.
The words that flowed between us, all too sweet.
And to extinguish this flame took my greatest resolve.
And it built between us a great, brick wall.
But I blame you! You knew I wasn't ready!
You rocked my world with a hand so steady.
And then she left me, all alone.
To my own devices.
The melancholic blue soaks through bone.
And with her gone I've given in to my old vices.
But it's not about her, nor I.
Not about the joy, sadness, or the lies.
It's about the heartless bastard, (or heartless bitch?)
Who tore my heart apart to the bleeding last stitch.
You took me for a ride-
Not once, but twice.
I guess a couple of Cupid's arrows ran me through.
That's right Love, I'm looking at you!
