that’s exactly how this ended

I’ve been maimed

my tears flooded . my gaze upon you literally suspended
clearly . my vision upended
your words .  they might well have been written in braille
hadn’t grasped you & me together spelt fail

through that stream of tears
I could not see . nor believe what I saw
this seeing


read red.


a sea change . changing my blush into pale
like that paper on which it was written

w\no call; n\no text nor email

just this frail stale note saying you were gone
left me... with this heart crushing note
murder you wrote . an addendum to our fading
but know not at all will I be the one to start begging

they’ll be no fervent rebuttal or an impassioned plea
no, not me . none of that for what my eyes don’t understand
forget that and forget you . still my own man  
swallowing my pride . absorbing what’s left of my vanity
the seeping into my near empty tear ducts
let ‘em swell, catch this hell and
well up then burst like past residents

The only thing is . I can’t really accept
anything that’s cordial
being.. of  yours.
