MAY AND SEPTEMBER ON THE BEACH

(Fictional, but inspired by many celebrity couple beach scene reports in newspapers.)

On the warm, sunny beach at Oporta
I saw them frolicking in the water,
Unabashed, a good hour and a quarter,
She seemed young enough to be his daughter,
In a bikini that could support her;
He older, greyer, fleshier, shorter,
But with the flair of a younger courter.
Enjoying life as a free man “oughta”,
With new lease from a bypassed aorta,
Who’d long since paid for his bricks and mortar
From his career as a news reporter,
Which took him to some scenes of slaughter.
She was PA to import/exporter,
“Most beautiful thing I’ve met!” he thought her.
He showed age, though oft cruel distorter,
Need not be man’s or woman’s love-thwarter.
