Best Friends...

My best friend happens to be a girl.
I can see in your eyes that it matters.
It still bothers you,
And I know that's the truth.
I watch as our relationship shatters.

We progressively get worse.
She is a gift and a curse.
Jealousy and tension surround us.
I can't avoid our descent.
Our time's lent and spent.
You can't rely on only our trust.

My best friend happens to be a girl.
I can see in your eyes that it matters.
It still bothers you,
And I know that's the truth.
I watch as our relationship shatters.

I understand your decision.
This is the prescription.
It's okay.
I won't let her stay.
It will hurt me too,
But I must choose.
I'll cut her off and push her away.

My best friend happens to be a girl.
You can see in my eyes that it matters.
It bothers me,
And you can now see…
My heart is beginning to shatter.

Depression surrounds me.
Inside, bitter-sweet problems arise.
You notice a strange change.
I tell you I'm fine,
But in the end I know it's a lie...

My best friend happens to be a girl.
You can see in my eyes that it matters.
It bothers me,
And you can now see…
My heart is beginning to shatter.

This is what I did for us.
It’s the choice that I made.
What's done is done.
The battle is won.
It's too late to make a trade.

My best friend happens to be a girl.
You can see in my eyes that it matters.
It bothers me,
And you can now see…
My heart is beginning to shatter.

I love you more than ever before.
You are all I have now.
I want us to be together forever.
This is the only way how.
I'll live with the consequences.
I have you and that is all I need.
I’ll adjust to the change and rearrange,
Forever in pain but I won’t let you see.

My best friend happens to be a girl.
People can see in our eyes that it matters.
My best friend is you.
We're eternally two.
Forever joined in happiness and laughter.
