Rum and a party of five
“It was nice seeing you Tess.”
and as I leave
I wonder if you
are genuine
and, were you ever genuine?
Oh just, give me a second
give me a drink
because I’m about to get nostalgic
and we all know that
that just ends up in a relapse
of depression
and discussion
with a 45 year old man
who got close to unhappiness once –
but now just lets his patients
open windows while
he safely
awaits a death full of peace
and religion
So sit there, relax
by all means pretend you do not know
that you are KILLING me.
and with genuine or (more likely) careless charm say:
“It was nice seeing you Tess”
“You too”
“Goddamn – you too.”
and as I leave
I wonder if you
are genuine
and, were you ever genuine?
Oh just, give me a second
give me a drink

and we all know that
that just ends up in a relapse
