THE SOCK
I walk in the door at 5 o'clock
Into the hall and pick up a sock
Straight up the stairs and make the bed
Must hurry up we need to be fed
But find on the floor
More screwed up cothes!
So fold them and tidy
This room I do loathe
Collect the glasses
And take down the mugs
But pass the bathroom
Is that a new rug!
No Its a towel wet on the floor
And a pair of old boots behind the door
So try to carry all this down the stairs
Oh no the hoover is still sitting there!
Walk into the living room
Where I find another top
Oh no not more clothes
I hope thats the lot
But I find old newspapers all over the floor
Now into the kitchen where I find more
Rubbish to clear and plates to scrape
Unload the dishwasher! Dinner will be late!
Reload the dishwasher then feed the cat
Turn around and see more crumbs on the mat!
So pick up the broom and sweep them up
Then look in the freezer
What can I muzzle up?
Defrost the curry I made the other night
Stick on the rice ready for tonight
Now dinner is on I can sit down for a while
But no the cat screeches and lets out a cry!
She stands by the door then wanders about
Does she want to stay in or want to go out
it makes envious would I ike to be a cat?
But a husbands role must beat that
Although I shouldnt complain
He does help me out
But only after I nag and shout!
When he helps out he really does try
Im fact he does a beter job than I
But thats not what I want for me to be a pest
i want him to do it when he knows I need a rest
To open that door at 5 o'clock
To see him picking up that old sock!
Telling me to sit down and making me a drink
Then go into the kitchen and feed Dinks (the cat)
Putting on the dinner then serving it up on a plate
Would be great.
Then running me a bath so I can unwind
Whilst he clears the plates and go gets the wine
Forget the diamond necklace
Forget the expensive clothes
For the best present you can give me
Is a night that I have shown
Into the hall and pick up a sock
Straight up the stairs and make the bed
Must hurry up we need to be fed
But find on the floor
More screwed up cothes!
So fold them and tidy
This room I do loathe
