The curse of Immortality

The wind gentle as it blows,
White sand beneath my toes,
The waves they are the same,
The sea still yet to tame,
And in a thousand years’ time,
You will stand here and be mine,
Just as a thousand years before,
Another was but is no more,
And so now I stand alone,
Her skin’s now dust from bone,
And your ancestors yet to breathe,
And they will all believe,
An old religion not yet dreamed,
Beliefs they die and are redeemed,
They are always all the same,
Different story different name,
Different colour different age,
Familiar page to page,
Empires rise religions born,
Old ones fall their pages torn,
Before long they are forgot,
Their remnants left to rot,
Just like those who followed,
In the jaws of time were swallowed,
Yet this beach remains the same,
This sea still yet to tame,
And though she is now long gone,
I wait for you to be born,
And we will love and laugh and live,
For a while I will forgive,
This evil world I walk,
And we will sing and dance and talk,
And when you die as you will die,
Rest assured I shall not cry,
For though your bones will turn to dust,
Another shall come…I trust…
