The lonely desert

Wide awake in the desolate sands
I watch the beautiful night sky.
I feel I can almost touch the stars
yet I know they are out of my grasp.
This arid place holds no sustenace
for the lonely seekers who come here.
The beauty of it all makes me almost
content to just lie here and watch.
Yet I know that my white bones soon
will decorate the barren desert sands.
In heaps they lie around me. All those
who came before me. All those who
failed.
