I Don't Believe
Judging by my past
Relationships aren't meant to last
I don't believe in trust
When all I've been shown is lust
The ice walls around my heart
I'm afraid will break apart
I've carefully crafted my barricade
So that no one will corrupt the heart I've made
I don't believe in so-called "love"
Or destiny sent from above
I just know how to push away
Not to take in, listen to what they say
I'm programmed to make mistakes
I don't have what "love" takes
"Love" is bitter, but promises to be sweet
It drains your energy and deprives you of sleep
Cat and Mouse is the game
With only desire to blame
I swear I'm better off alone
With my heart chilling me to the bone
I don't believe in "love", this may be what I lack
Because my past has stained my perception black

"Love" is a complicated thing, I do not think anyone can ever really understand it. The best we can do is make sure it does not drive us to destruction.
I can understand the building of walls, it is an effective way to defend ourselves from the pain we think will come.
It is not always easy to write a negative side to love and emotions that come with it, so well done for putting into words something that is always going to be hard to describe.

This one is well written. Love is hard, and no one really knows the true secrets of it.

I can relate to this...love is complicatied espeically when you get hurt so many times. But you have to give people a chance.

Love, albeit elusive, is there to be found. Not in the hearts of others, but in yourself. If you look for someone else to give you the love that you desire- perfect and untainted, you will always be let down. Share the love that you want, and you will find something worth keeping.
