Ultraviolet Catastrophe

The black body
Of society,
He arrests thoughts,
Absorbs the pain
Of middle age on
The modern wage.

No one saw his glow,
Suffused in spirals
And paying off bills,
Left in the wake of
Alcohol,
Chills on respite.

He gathered the heat
Of the city night,
His abeyance ceased
On the balcony rail,
His shoulders sagged,
And destroyed the world
One particle at a time.
