The Birth

Deep inside
the pit of my stomach,
a tiny parasite grows.
I know not yet
who you are,
I know not yet what you are.
But I will keep you,
I will nurture and protect you
Because you are mine.

I don't know you
And yet, I do
You are the woman
who will decide my fate
Whether I will be born
and know you
Or another.
Or perhaps this
is my last day here
and you will remove me from you
before I can grow.
Either way,
I am yours
Because you are my mother.

I have waited for this day
I have felt it nearing
You will join us soon.
To greet the world
And learn yourself.
I pray for a fast birth
For you and for me.
Let us not have a horror story
To share with the next generation.

I know it will be soon.
I will leave the safety of your womb
And enter your world.
Will you hold me in your arms?
Will you find for me a name?
Or leave that to another
And have our first meeting
Be our last?
Let it be quick,
I do not wish to dwell here.
Let me find out now
Whether you will reject me.

My beautiful girl is born
And her name on the tip of my tongue

Which I can barely glimpse,
