Pirouette

Not a leg to stand on,
she takes what she has
and prances
aloft.

I hardly notice
the photoshopped demeanor
that cuts through my heart.

Hey, I'm trying to breath here.
Can't we make love
like we're falling off the balcony?

I crack frost frozen glass
under a hot nightmare.

God, she makes me
volcanic in the best possible way.

Tearing up the sheets
and shredding the pillows
her hand clutches
tight as she bites her lip
and the cascading
taste of my dreaming
lumps in my throat
solid as loss.

I want her whole being,
not enough to have two skins,
I want to be her
to have her
to not exist separate
and the diamond
spray of the moment
is a wretched
chasm.

A chained leg
on a profoundly
logical truck bumper drags
my sorry ass
along a bumpy gravel road
and hauls my psyche
handled rough
and shatter breaks
what little heart
and here lies
fool and caring.
