Starrider
I stole a ride on the stars a few moons ago,
They took me to places that I’d never imagine.
The night was my blanket as galaxies sang me a lullaby.
The stars flew through the sky like rockets,
Shooting like bullets from an invisible gun.
They told me not were they were bringing me,
But that I would sing a song that I’d never known.
They strode past the pearly gates of Heaven,
And out past the thousands of skies of dead air.
Twinkling diamonds paved the rode that I rode upon.
We traveled through years and times of the distant past,
To make me relive the curses that had fell upon me.
Waves of light caressed my pale skin for only seconds
Before the great sun turned his face away from me.
In the black distance I could hear wolves howling,
Howling to the moon that was too beautiful for my tears.
Nightmares and dreams suddenly streamed my mind,
As I recalled the last few words that passed your lips,
“If you ever sail the stars, I will be your moon and guide you.”
Waters trickled from my eyes like a song I’d never sung.
As night began to decease, your presence faded from me.
The stars returned me to reality with a flash of light.
Water still encased them, but my eyes were finally opened.
They took me to places that I’d never imagine.
