INCITED

(Not autobiographical!)

When I had passed puberty,
A beautiful divorcee
Incited gullible me
To the act of venery.
From her marriage bond set free,
She had abjured chastity
And made friends with nudity.
In the bedroom’s privacy
There was nowt I did not see
Of her amazing body.

There resulted pregnancy,
And shotgun matrimony
For me at age twenty.
My parents thus disowned me:
They’d rather I was thirty,
With a decent property,
And with someone more ‘worthy’
Than a ‘dirty’ divorcee,
Before first paternity.
I faced years of enmity.
