In All the Universe

Life is intense.

It comes at you.

So many asteroids
    screaming from heaven
so many comets
    crushing the sky
blistering sun
    waning moon
so many directions
    in a dwindling cosmos.

And if for a second
I see into your face
and tenderly touch
the rings of the stars,
this is how
the dance begins.

However brief
that step transcends
into the vast
incredible night.

All is a falling
known only
by the sands
that stretch
along the beaches
of a thousand thousand thousand
and there reflects the twinkle
that is landscaped
in your eyes.
