THE INSTRUMENTALIST

(Not autobiographical.)

When a versatile instrumentalist in a rock band,
My exploits were known through Wales, Scotland, Ireland and England,
Both for my expertise at what I played
And ‘birds’ in passion I allegedly ‘laid’.
My deftness at handling the phallic guitar
Had forward girls throw up their knickers or bra,
While my performance on the drums
Made me ‘sex cymbal’ to their mums.
My keyboarding on electronic grand
Enticed offers of many a one-night stand,
But I settled down after I met The One –
She alone liked singing to my melodeon.
I now play outreach concerts with my wife
Who sings of The Way, The Truth and The Life.
