She can see the way I light up
every time I’m with you
and all my promises seem less
when I glow under your gaze
like a firefly in a moonless sky

You’re my secret betrayal
to the sanctity of love
which is no sanctuary at all
when no one compares
to your memory  
and the easy way
you always make me smile

When she asks me if she’s the only one
my answer is always yes
never mind the fact that my heart was stolen
years ago, and I know
I’ll probably never get it back
