emmy lee
she fell in the water, she couldn't swim
she tried to get out, flailing each limb
she was sinking to the bottom, unable to stop
she couldn't do much more than postpone the drop
tried to breathe but the water came in fast
in this frenzied state she would never last
the water pulled her down, down, down
she didn't want to drown
she tried, she really did, but she felt her body give
she prayed for a hero to come, to let her live
her lips sobbed promises to anyone who'd hear
a little girl who fell down a well, disappeared
she was fighting, she didn't want to be dying
the water flooded, but she never stopped trying
she wanted to see her mommy, hear her sing
why didn't anyone notice me missing?
she wanted her daddy to hold her tight
scold her for giving him such a fright
but no one came to save her, and she couldn't get out
no one was there to hear her frantic shout
her lips turned blue, her skin so, so cold
and she could no longer keep hold
she wanted to go home, she swears she'd be good, she'd behave
her tears mixed with the water, and she was so brave
the little girl closed her eyes, her body was growing numb
she tried to keep them open, so she would hear them come
she died an innocent, a child of only three
