Faithless
My faithlessness is not a reflection of your love
it’s a reflection of the worthlessness
inside me
I’m an insomniac's dream, somehow, somewhere
I need to believe someone is thinking of me
as they close their eyes to sleep at night
just like I think of you from dawn to dusk
and beyond
I’m an addict gone wrong
love was never meant to be
If there is a God, then I’m a private joke
between he and humanity
an outsider among outsiders
I’m empty and forsaken
I have given up on that childhood dream

Re: Faithless
Goin through it huh? (i had a real rough bout for a good month or two). I personally haven't ever felt any power with or through "god" so leaving that place doesn't impact me. But certainly many people can relate or find substance in that... I dont love the addict gone wrong-cause has an addict gone right?..the word has such an identity in itself...do quite like insomniacs dream- one of those simple, but damn i should have thought of thats... As many people say this isnt about me, ill limit the hoping for a meaningful and accompanied life, unless it is- then i do

lol, thanks LB. Not all my poems are personal, but this one is. It's not about God, and my faithlessness doesn't have to do with religion so much as humanity and the meaning and point/or pointlessness of life. I could get all philosophical and go on about how we're not all created equal, but I won't.
If you'd ever like to borrow the line of insomniacs dream for a poem, I don't mind. :)

Well this has the Indie stamp.
I like the term 'insomniacs dream' very clever. Though 'insomniacs' requires an apostrophe as it's possessive.
First stanza got me a bit confused. Faithlessness is a reflection of self-worthlessness? If so then I got it.
I'm really drawn to honest poems at the moment and it's a shame but also good to take part in people's lives and perspectives. Good to see you're back. Like the faithless idea.

Thank you Mr A for picking up that apostrophe :)
It seems I hit a good idea with the insomniac's dream. And yes, faithlessness is a reflection of self-worthlessness. To have faith in something implies it has worth.
Honest poems are good, I'm not sure what I am after right now reading wise. I could probably use a good escape.
Glad you enjoyed the concept and the poem.

If there is a God, then I’m a private joke
between he and humanity
an outsider among outsiders
This verse seems misplaced because it brings up the difference between human faith and God's faithfulness, the difference between religion and spirit.
But then the faithlessness is an issue of shame, so there seems to be some work to do in separating unconditional love and human frailty...there are many facets here....

The first thing to know about me, is that I'm not in any way religious. To me there is just humanity. That verse was a thought in a dark moment, and it seemed fitting in this poem about not having faith in self or anything else really. I wouldn't say faithlessness is an issue of shame, more an issue of perception. Faith is a universal concept that goes beyond the idea of religion. Faith in self, faith in friends, faith in family, faith that your dodgy car will make it to the next gas station on a long trip... you get my point.
Thank you for stopping by and leaving your thoughts.

Its good to see you back Indie, I was disappointed when I could not read your work past few days... And yes I do relate to your sense of "faithlessness", because I too have this insistent craving for another's love to feel complete. And yes "addicts" do go wrong when they switch their addiction... And my favorite is "If there is a God..." because life does seem like a joke in bad humor at times.. yet Miss don't give up on dreams they are just that, realizing them into reality takes away from the magic... loved it
