Undone

The heart sinks

sun beneath rim of horizon

lost beneath the line

the one crossed

leaving me behind

left as shattered glass

shards cut and tear

bleeding of all I know

stain the page scarlet

the edges pierce

cutting through crimson lines

upon palms spread slow

the need to breath

but busied hands

stifle the exhale

affection merely a suggestion

feelings ended where touch began

lost was the day colors fade

repeat the white and grey

you were the liquid fire

slipping through my hands

though painful to the touch

I would grasp to understand

Undone in the unknowing

No longer kindling for the burning

song no longer tempting

music from another room

A glance in clouded mirror

with refocused eyes

cease to be the one

life in the etching

the journey now has a name

duel over

heal hearts broken bone

toss gloves to the grave

carve your name in stone

cover of  book now torn

pages lay unread

though creased and worn

still strong is the spine

choosing to swim

against my own tide

to you

I cut the line
