nostalgia
it sets in heavier than night
from an accidental image
numbed-self awakening
and the ache remembering
wanting to belong again
you forget me as I do you
then your worn edges wear me
but I must
I must be the alien
in a strange place regardless
of the yearning for agains
a phantom in the fray
to be the child wanting something
alive for something
that kills you to return
the dream in this boy's eyes
peers tearfully
through my cast iron ribs
I must be the alien
a phantom in the fray
