What Would You Do?

what would you do if you saw a stranger cry?
would you stop and ask what's wrong or just simply walk by?
what would you do if you saw a child being hit?
would you walk by and say that getting into other people's problems just don't "fit"
what would you do if you saw a homeless kid
picking through garbage and eating rotten food off it's lid?
would you walk by if you saw a girl being rapped?
just ignore it like a violent video tape?
what would you do if the choice of doing what's right was left up to you?
would you do if it were up to you to do what's right and true?
would you be a hero?
or just another loser zero?
what if you saw a child on the street?
would take them into your home to give them a rest from hatreds heat
what would you do if these people where me?
would you help me? or leave me to my misery?
you all think your good people "not that bad"
but what would you do if you knew a stranger was sad?
would you offer a smile?
maybe even take the time to talk with them awhile?
you say your just one person what could you do?
you could do what any hero would do for you
if you need a smile give one away
it may seem pointless but someday that smile will return to you
so next time you see something that you can change
use your heart and your brain before you the problem you engage
