DNC+RNC= Still need to change the channel!
Watched two shows, puppet masters in force
have to admit I started off favoring one
But in the end I have to say
from my party I may have to run
For with all talk about the middle class
not much for those below
Do we have to wait for a ghost of the sixties
for politicians that want us to know?
We still export bloodshed, so proud of a killing
don't care that as honorable as it might be
Something decent is lost in us all
when war is all we see
have to admit I started off favoring one
But in the end I have to say
from my party I may have to run
For with all talk about the middle class
not much for those below
Do we have to wait for a ghost of the sixties
for politicians that want us to know?
We still export bloodshed, so proud of a killing
don't care that as honorable as it might be
Something decent is lost in us all

How right you are. Both sides will promise ANYTHING....they are politicians after all....Wait until the election....it will be so close almost 50/50 with basically a party in power not able to pass any bills because the opposition will make it their duty to oppose so as to begrudge...In 4 years we will be asked...are you better off than 4 years ago...The public may be better in one area, worse in the other...however all the politicians will have served their 4 year term and have an indexed pension for life.......
BTW...I liked the poem....

Thanks, being a DEM, I want to give Obama the benefit of the doubt, but there a few things that still confront my conscience; his initial embrace of going full speed ahead with off-shore drilling, the support of nuclear power. My worry is that in effort to speed production nuclear could end up as the most favored form and I am not comfortable with every state having nuclear reactors.
Campaign finance is just as bad as ever yet I do remember the candidate talking about it. Seems like little if any presidential muscle was given to the topic except for a press conference being
opposed to a court case.
Didn't do jack when the assault weapons band ran out.
Delegates went crazy about killing Bin Laden- we still export violence and sell weapons all over the world
People once in the middle class lost economic power but what is really being done to combat poerty. Focusing on the middle is great but what about those people that don't have a home, a job, etc.
0kay too much soap box---I am going to bed.
Thanks for the read!

I like the way you think and ask questions. Both parties talked about the middle class and the rich; how about the poor? Actually, I wrote a song about this in my blog, entitled "Enlighten Me."
I think war will never end as it seems to be part of our lifeline. Without war, who is going to buy our guns and ammo, our planes, including personal supplies, etc. Whoever buys from us, are our Allies and whoever don't are terrorists, just sayin'.
WAR = ECONOMICS, otherwise we should have learned from history! Think of how much Cheney made and his company in the Iraq War.

I totally hear ya! Now I am not going to paint a picture of John Kennedy being a saint, but I do recall seeing pictures of homes in Latin America and Africa that had his likeness on the walls. Wouldn't it be nice if the US was once again thought of more as an agent of peace? As Lennon said, "You may say I'm a dreamer..."

I say down with the party system and the money that backs it. How 'bout we vote for the PERSON (italicized, bold, underlined...) that will do the best job. Oh, right, that would be the average Jane or Joe who actually lives, works and plays in the "system", and has a clue: but not the money to run. Sorry about the rant. I guess the emotion from you poem spilled over a bit.

Laugh...you are allowed to rant. It bothers me when members of either party act like the world will come to an end if they are put in office. Too many incumbents get themselves in cushy districts and stop representing the best interests of the voters. It is systemic which means the people in power want things to stay as they are so they can maintain power.
By the way, personal point of note---since I wrote the poem I have left the Dems. (now neither major party can call me a member)
