Near Distance

 
My job is not
to limit you
nor abandon you,
but rather my job,
as your friend,
is to be there
for you
wherever you are.

I am
seeing you
as you are
and not asking
anything more
from you
other than
that you remain true
to yourself.

And even then,
if you should stray,
I will remain
ever vigilant
at the door
of your being,
so that,
when in the future
if you should return
to your original self,
the light
in the distance
will be a familiar one.  

I'll keep
a light burning,
for when
you make it back.  

But.

Don't be
totally shocked if,
after a while,
I come looking
for you;
I have an uncanny way
of seeing your path
in the dark;
I have an app
for that.
