save her

she's yelling, she's screaming
everyone knows it's just her dreaming
nightmares during the day, nightmares at night
nightmares that don't disappear with light
it's all in her mind
no one can save her in time
not when it's herself she's running from
she runs to you, she runs past me
but we can't help her escape herself see?
she's crying for help but none of us can
we can't ease the pain that is all hers
just like none of the animals can change their skins, scales, and furs
we watch her helpless, we do not know how to help her anyway
she's running toward a cliff and off she will run
maybe then her pain and misery will be done?
we want to help but we don't know how
we're hoping and praying that a hero might save her somehow
we can't help her but we honestly do care
we want to help her but how can we when we're not even there?
