Circle of Light

- Circle of Light -

“Merry we meet, under the moon!
Merry we part, when the dawn comes soon!
The darkness runs deep within my spirit!
Let all who fear the dark, fear of my kiss!”

I stand within the circle of power, drawn with a wand,
Carved from wood found within a forest’s Faerie Ring.
For some spirits, of natural forcers are far more fond…
And so into the circle of power, nature’s force I bring!
Encircling my fingers, I feel the divine energies flowing,
And the circle becomes like gold transmuted from lead.
I can feel the breath of the gods in the winds blowing…
And on my neck, I can feel the very breath of the dead.

The spirits rise, bound with words bold and so arcane,
That no mortal tongue any longer dares to utter them…
Yet my voice dares the old speech, within this domain!
I summon not to control, and never once to condemn.
There is love in my magical art, and the spirits can see,
No malice in the force that I have thus brought to bear.
Magic is like music and I am conjuring up a symphony,
Conducting the very winds with spells only I may dare!

The winds fade, the spirits depart, when thusly untied…
By loving words, spoken in gratitude for their wisdom.
What passed between us, are secrets that must abide,
Within: the deepest realms of their old hidden kingdom.
Of darkness and light, of death and life, and of rebirth…
And of enchantment so profound that mere words fail!
When the Faerie emerged from the depths of the earth,
As the moon grew full and the banshees came, to wail.

“Súgach muid ag freastal ar, faoi bhun an ghealach!
Súgach go againn páirteach, nuair a thagann an tús go luath!
Sníonn an dorchadas domhain laistigh de mo spiorad!
Lig gach duine a eagla an dorchadas, eagla mo póg!”
