when your in pain
lean on me, I'll be your umbrella in the rain
please don't cry until your in my arms
I wish I could protect you from all life's pains and all it's harms
I wish I could make your pain my own
but all I can do is open the doors to my heart and home
I'd give you happiness if I could
surely you must know if I could I would
my heart breaks at the thought of you or anyone being in pain
I'd shield you all from the rain
I'd make my skin water proof leather
so that I can shield all of you from life's hateful weather
if you don't have a friend
come to me I'll be there for you to the very end
I can listen to you
and be a friend that's as true as the color blue
I can't promise being friends with me will change anything at all
but at least you know that when it all goes to hell who you can call
if you need a place to stay
I'd give you my bed for as long as you need it and a day
I'd give you everything I have if it were what you needed
I don't care about the girl before me or what she did
I wish I could do more for those I call friends
but no matter how I try in pain they always end
