Down in Tampa there was a party
seemed like an exercise in dreams
Left me still wondering
about those that fall in the seams

One goal was to cast the president
as not being up to the task
Suggest that four more years would be horrible
to be avoided like a growing rash

Well the vp nominee crooned and hummed
from being in congress nothing new
But even Fox News was astonished
for his claims were simply not true

Which strikes me as odd for like any president
you can mark problems with some things he has done
Without having to fabricate and distort
all things under the sun

But perhaps the oddest was Dirty Harry
pretending in an empty chair Obama was there
Awkward would be the appropriate title
Eastwood's mind must have been less then "fair"

It should be noted who they tried to ignore
Ron Paul and Jon Hunstman and really a crime
For they had some laudable positions
but they wouldn't conform completely with the Tea Party line

Whereas Ryan had specifics, even if untrue
Romney's words were lightweight, free to fly
Saying Obama's health care reforms
were not like Massachusetts so you can kiss them goodbye

But not saying what he'll replace it with
can we infer the reason why
That the markets will solve everything
I think we already gave that a try

But for me as one person who has grown tired of war
Romney sounds like Bush, reign imperialistic all day
If we don't like you in the middle east
tough luck we can blow you away

When I look back on the choices that the GOP could have made
bothersome are the results, not enough to make me sick
But in terms of a true statesman
there could have been a much better pick!
