Guilty as Charged

If brought before a court of law, a jury of my peers
Would I my love, be found guilty, guilty of loving you

As in all trials, they would have to look to the evidence
The forensics, the proof of the crime, of my guilt

First, there would be all the telling glances, adoring looks
That I give you each and every day, most when you're not looking

Next, would be the way my face lights up when you walk in the room
Accompanied by that telltaled skipping in the beat of my heart

Sure to make the case against me would be the way I sigh
Deep and full of surrender at the thought or any memory of you

Needless to say my urge to hold your hand would implicate me
Whether it is walking down the street or sitting on the couch

Surveillance of our frequent lovemaking would add to the case file
Recording our foreplay, my tenderness, the unselfish meeting of your needs

Also throw in the countless romantic poems I've written for you
Those most incriminating words of heartfelt love, unbridled passion

Most damming of all, however, would be the confession of my heart, the star witness
How it would tell all of the ongoing love affair that is our marriage

So, now here I sit, awaiting your verdict, unashamed of my guilt
Knowing that romantic justice and love itself will be served
