The Road, Astray©

No! You don't want to go that way.

One wrong step and you're slipping.
a steep and often one-way deadly slope.
If you do not watch your footing
you'll soon find the very end of ropes.

No! You don't want to go that way!

Sharp turns. Wrong way.
Rough roads. Dead ends.

You know you don't have to go that way.
I think you'll find it slips away
to a suffocating, desolated, deeply jaded place.
An Icy cave with roofs that crumble.
Where no unguarded back is safe.

No! You don't have to go that way.

If you plan on ever coming back,
you'd better leave a bridge or two unburned.
By the time you turn around,
there's many things you ought to learn
and walk lightly on your return.

'lest you get turned back around
So easily! A weakling, thee!
A drowning little worm!

So if you persist  a path of grief.
You'll get everything you ought to reap.
And when you reach the end of your road, astray
just know
you chose to

go

that

way!!!
