Dark Lady

there once was a dark lady who died of a broken heart
she loved a good and honorable knight

she thought of him often when they were apart
though she loved him he loved another, so her love for him she did fight

long and hard did she fight her burning feelings she felt inside
she heard about his love for the fairer lady

so her feelings she did hid
and her heart slowly began to sink toward hade

she would sit at her window all day
hoping she might catch a glance of the good knight

slowly she began to fade away
soon she was running from the sunlight

though her heart beat for him
he loved another more then her

day after day she would wait for him to love her wanting him was her secret sin
but she knew it was the fairer lady that he did prefer

one day the knight received a letter from our dark lady
a love poem she had written in her ruby blood

red words on ivory paper:

dear knight, soon I will travel to hade
tears, my eyes do flood
you love the fairer lady this is well known throughout the land
oh dear knight this I can no longer stand
I fear
my dear
that I can no longer live as I do
before I leave these words I must say
I Love You
and that is why I must go away
Good Bye Dear Knight

he read the words written in red
the ruby blood the dark lady

for him had shed
he did not understand what she meant by leaving for hade

poor knight couldn't have known
that our dark lady's

soul had already flown
soon she would become the mistress of the dark god Hades

he learned the truth a little to late
like any good knight would do

he went to Hades to fight for our dark lady's fate
the dark lady's skin was already pale blue

and Hades had given her a gown of darkness and ebony black
the knight fought for our dark lady's soul

he fought back the dark god's attack
the dark lady's soul was his only goal

the knight in his silver armor faced the dark god in his own
what a sight it was light fighting darkness in darkness's home

the dark lady looked on as a statue would
as the knight fought for her

silently she prayed for her knight to win if he could
but she knew that the fairer lady was still the one he preferred

so our dark lady turned her back
as the brave knight fought off the dark god's attack

he was only doing what any honorable knight should
saving a lady though he loved another

he was a fool to fight the dark god, to fight where no one else had ever stood
he did not know how he would suffer

though the dark god was defeated it was not an battle easily won
bleeding and tired the knight stood before the dark lady

her back to him was turned as if she meant to shun
so there stood the good knight and the dark lady in hade

he asked her to come back to the world of light
to return to the living and stay awhile

the smile he received was down right sinisterly unright
he cringed as if in physical pain when he saw her smile

why should I return with you?
I love you that I will admit

why should I come back to the land of the living if I can't have you love me too?
here in hade I do fit

back in the living I will go back to being alone
with days to look forward to of watching another lady be with you

no, dear knight I'm better here on my own
as the dark god's lady

good knight go
leave hade

while mercy the dark god's still willing to show
you do not love me, this I know for fact

tired of my heart breaking from the pain
of watching you love someone else

here with Hades he helps keep me sane
underground, where darkness is wealth

knight go leave
let me be

let me go, please
I love you but you don't love me

go to your fairer lady
leave me, a dark lady in the land of hade

the knights eyes showed such pain
and from his eyes tears did fall

slowly the knight began to speak with just a small touch of lost sanity
the only lady that I call,

the only lady that I love
is the lady I stand before

no lady could be so fair then the lady I always search for in the windows above
never have I loved a lady such as her before

I came to hade
I fought a god to win her soul

for this lady
is my only goal

though she fancy's herself dark and so unpure
there is nothing so bright

of that I am sure
she brings to me new insight

she is the one that I adore
there is no other that I love, see?

and yet this lady is showing me the door
when I ask her to come home with me

for her I would gladly give my life
suffer for a thousand years

if I could for just a day claim her as my wife
for her I have based all of my fears

so lady that I love
will you came with me back to the land above?
