Distress is a fast paced,
overwhelming paragraph
leaked from everyone else's pen,
and, whilst I can write about it
I am fairly sure I can
never help you with yours.

When you read this
and it touches you,
-which, again, I can
never promise you
or myself-
you help with my own
version of distress

because I know
I have taken its snarling teeth
and worked them down
to make them fluid
during the many droughts
that I face.
