Morning Love

- Morning Love -

The moon has set, there amongst billions of stars,
And with it the Pleiades in the spaces allotted there.
Time, that thief of joys and healer of sorrows past...
It passes like the night, and brings ease to my scars.
Alone and longing for love's embrace, time to spare,
I lament when time moves too swift, never to last!
The skies have stormed and left their thunder nigh,
Heaving the earth, for that mother often must sigh.
When darkness comes and the land is still as death,
The earth is calm after the storm, catching its' breath.
How oft when lightning has smashed into the ground,
Has it been one passing blaze of glory there around?

Dawn is a marvel in its' splendor, colorful in its' hue,
Like the banners of a thousand knights all in armour.
And yet it too passes too quickly, like vessels at sea!
Sails full and masts tall, drifting on oceans ever blue,
The ship of the dawn passes with little noisy clamour.
Silently, ever so quiet, the morning passes brilliantly!
And yet is dawn so much less a thing of bright glory,
Than desire itself, which moves the hearts of poets.
Would that whatever I longed for might be manifest!
For each word I offer unto heaven oh so desperately,
I offer up with whole heart, so harboring no regrets.
Too long have I endured my trials, terrors, and tests!

Come hither, ye graces and muses praised oft of old,
And grant my tongue the magic to speak of my hope!
Let Aphrodite herself lend an ear and harken so bold,
To this humble soul ascending without a sturdy rope!
Why, men ask, do I praise the goddess who is love...
When I lie alone at night, longing for love's embrace?
It is because I am moved by her: fairest of all above,
And I am hopeful that I will behold my beloved's face.
Oh where is she whom I am destined for, in the end!
When will the goddess of love send her to my side...
How long must a heart pine, before it will fast rend?
And so I pray, even beyond where the gods abide.

Oh send me news of your love for me, even tonight,
Sweet maiden who has heard my words of longing!
Be my rose, and let my lyre sing with a fairest light,
Oh such delight we might know, one lovely morning!
Hearts on fire, beauty desired, boundless pleasure.
Is there in this world, any far more lasting treasure,
Than the gift of one heart to another, selfless given?
Grace immortal that cannot be tainted or ever riven,
Makes me realize that a dream of love is truly pure.
Will you dream with me, maid, steadfast and sure?
In the night, with no voices singing except our own,
Our music can journey on winds heavenward blown.

If ever time should claim me, as it claims all things...
Think not too unkindly of me, but read my poems!
They were not penned: by proud princes or kings...
Yet they will delight you as each new dawn comes.
Remember that I loved you and let that be enough,
To keep your spirit dancing, when times get tough.
And if time keeps us together, to share each day...
So let us dance together, where the fauns oft play!
I hold my hand out to you, will you take it in turn...
I offer you my fire, will it warm you and not burn?
Let the goddess of love unite us, and hold us fast,
So that our passion will endure, and eternally last!
