Barbados

You’re a mahogany ornament
She hates it so
No love is lost or gained
A delusion maintained
Or in the least
I’ve kept you alive
With spare scraps of love
And scrapings from my heart
A beautiful dove
A grain so twisted
You live outside my eyes
Tides are so kind
But I think you’ve missed it
Until the next time you’re so close
And the bed will be a box
And we live in Barbados for one night.
