Girl
There is a girl
who lives in dark places
where shadows make home.
Forever she bleeds
on a never growing willow
tree.
She cuts herself open,
bares herself to the world.
Releasing the pain and anxiety
with every sweep of the razor.
Her lips unleash her cries,
and her eyes reign in the pain.
The hurt won't be set free,
she won't let it escape, not yet.
Not without a bullet to the head,
or a knife to the heart,
or a poison to drink.
There is a girl
Who lives under the
Protective branches
Of a willow tree,
and darkened shadows.
When she dies
Her soul is let go
and maybe then
we will feel her pain.
