Reminiscent

 It hurts so bad to let you go,
but no matter how hard I try the universe says it must be so
 
As my days continue on
I hope and pray my soul can continue strong
 
Great memories of us shall never cease
I beg you universe, set my mind free
 
You say you have moved on, I say ok
But in the back of my mind my universe is torn away
 
Every morning your there and every night is the same
My eyes get teary when I meet someone else with your name
 
lessons learned the mask is off
I can no longer live like the fantasy will never stop
 
No matter the desire, no matter my will
I cannot bring you close to my heart your distance stands, still
 
One day when I let this all go and am again living
I shall remember the pain I caused myself by not giving
It was my fear of the unknown
That forced the universe to show me my own
 
If I had followed my gut we wouldn't have struggled
If I had known what to do
life's hints wouldn't be so subtle
From now on I strive to be better
