After-sex Assessments
As the smoke escaped her mouth
just to sit
in the warm vapours between us
(celebratory balloons came to mind)
she said:
"You make me feel like a bird."
I then thought: my hands and knees
are twice as grubby
as when I was a little boy.

Your hands and knees were grubby? What kind of weird shit are you into?! Just kidding. This is a glorious poem, effective because it's so short and concise. The "celebratory balloons" were a glorious image, and I loved the line of dialogue. Thanks very much for the read.

Hey it's only weird if you don't get a little dirty, Jack.
...and cheers, I'm glad it didn't lack sustenance with it being so short.
Thanks for the praise.

That what she says has all that space around it seems to make it hang in the air, just like the smoke in the previous line, and I really liked that. Made me smile to see the word 'assessments' in the title, as if a school test was being marked. And I love how all the separate little remarks are allowed to stand on their own without being crowded out by explanations to make sense of them.

Thanks, Merda.
Thought the punctuation was a bit heavy in this, but as it's short and with dialogue, I suppose it's ok.
Once again, thanks.

Shorter than most of the poems you write, but it works well in its blunt thought-provoking nature. There is an innocence here that I didn't get on first reading, and this is definitely a poem I could come back to tomorrow and find some inner meaning that I missed today.

Intrigued is good, just hope it's the correct line of thoughts you're pursuing.
