Knowledge

You turn up the music to drown out the noise. The never ceasing thinking. Horrid thoughts, swirling, lashing, forcing their way to the front of your mind. Your head thrashes as you clutch your ears. You turn the music louder, hearing your ears ring as a warning to turn it down. The thoughts mimic the music and swell ever louder.

You desperately try to reach out to your companions, but none offer help. They turn their backs to you, arms crossed a clear smirk twisting their faces into ugly masks. You turn the music up louder to it's max volume, the ringing becoming a screaming to join the razor edged thoughts as they too swell louder, screaming over the music. You hunch over, sweating profusely and clawing at your ears futilely.

The memory, the knowledge tearing through your brain obliterating coherent thought. The memory of the disturbing sight rearing up, forcing you to look. You scream for help, but the sound is drowned out by the blaring music. Your clawed hands tear at your ears, warm blood covering your hands and trailing down your shoulders and back. The pain rips a scream from your throat, a primal roar of rage, fear, and pain. Your hair and clothes are drenched in sweat and blood as you continue your screaming until all you can do is cough. You continue clawing your ears and thrashing your head until the knowledge recedes to the back of your mind again and all you can hear is ringing.

Numbly you turn the music off and sit on the floor in the mess you made. The ringing persists as you numbly look at the blood all around you. You bring your hands into your line of sight and stare blankly at them. You don't recognize the red covered claws in front of you as your own. You stare blankly at them, the chunks of human flesh, the ruined jagged talons covered in the warm red substance that covers the floor and soaks your clothes. You wipe your face, smearing it with a sticky warm liquid. You stare blankly, uncomprehendingly at the mess now covering your floor, until exhaustion over takes you. Laying you down in the middle of a pool of red as your vision goes black.
