Funny Little Word

Loyalty is this funny word
Like sticky book pages
It clings to us
Like a beaten dog
We throw things at it
Kick it
Slam it
Toss it against walls
But yet it always comes back
Like a piece of gum
Under the forth graders desk

We are loyal
Or at least we try to be
Friendships
           And       
                       Relationships

Are built upon  
This funny little word
Without it these things usually crumble
And wither away

This funny little word
Creates a nest in our soul
And builds a home there
Just above devotion
And just below dedication
