Though a looking glass

We’re the same, you and I
built of the same dysfunctions
that bound us, as they tore us apart

In dark springs we stood
blind to the flaws and cracks in the walls
that did not topple but implode
beneath the dawning of the sun
spreading truth through the ripples
that bubbled in the morning heat

And I wanted to believe in dark forevers
tinged with the promises we could not keep
when our hearts were shallower
than our vivid imaginations
conjuring violence into a glorious romance

In the cracks in your perception
I learnt to loath my own reflection
as we moved in sync towards the kill
that would be the birth of reality
and the death of us
