Only taught what only can!

What could 'only' teach, it's such a little word,
Surely it's too small and shallow to bear much influence at all?
I realize that 'only' is certainly very respected,
If you're the 'only' something, you've gained more than expected.

Here rushes lesson on the fast train of thought
If I don't apply the breaks soon, much will be lost
For each little thing unfolds like a flower bud
It releases the fragrance to beckon hunger satisfied.

Look skeptical one, just as only a problem can give birth to wisdom
Such flows everything into being and it all rests on 'only'.
Only the sick can heal, only the alive can kill.
Only the crooked can get straightened up, only the high can come down.

Only nothing makes something, only filled requires lacking.
Only the unforgiving can forgive, only a hole that can be filled!
Only the long can be cut short, only the young that can grow old.
Only a smile is the sun's worthy competitor, only hugs that threaten fashion.

Since only the hopeless hope, only the restless regret.
If only does what only can, then nothing can be different.
The train has reached my stop and I can smell the fragrance
