Androgynous Angel

- Androgynous Angel -

I am ever, the Androgynous Angel…
The rebel whose crusade is endless!
My voice rings as clear as any bell,
So that: all the past, I might confess.
I am beyond the count of time itself,
Yet bound by time the same as you.
The knowledge of every bookshelf,
Compared to my wisdom, is less true.
I seek love, for my heart is like flame,
My spirit is wreathed in passion’s fire.
Though humble, I have tasted fame…
And became, the victim of my desire.

My wings of light have burned away,
Like a dream from an age long past…
Revealing my soul, in the light of day.
When will my tears dry, at long last?
Darkness and light in balance divine,
Sorrow, and delights beyond count…
Such was my mystery for all of time.
To fathom it, just drink from the font.
I hold the chalice before you, gently!
Drink from it and learn hidden things.
I stand fairly revealed, for all to see…
Bearing my gift, and all that it brings.

The beauty of flowers and of nature,
Where fireflies flit in a summer night.
Within my heart, flows like a river…
All this, and more, in an ancient rite!
Like the cycle of seasons, and ages,
My poetic verses continue in rhythm.
These are not the babbling of sages.
I am ever inspired: by both Heaven,
And mayhap Hell, when so inclined.
I am honest in this, and that is good,
And yet I am lonely; for love I pine!
But I crusade on, oft misunderstood.
