My Burning Spirit

- My Burning Spirit -

As I walked down the road today silently,
Beneath skies bluer than the ocean, vast…
I saw the falling blossoms of a cherry tree.
Blown on the wind, as fleeting as the past!
I wish I could retain that peace I had felt…
When first my eyes beheld the tree so fair,
But all things change, as to time all is knelt.
Only the soul remains, constant as a stare!
Mine has looked upon depths and heights,
Seeking the meaning behind things unseen.
Within me I have beheld the ebon nights…
In which, stars glisten as armor can gleam.
The spirit is celestial and can soar beyond,
Yet bound to the forms we wear each life.
My spirit is like flame, passionately fond…
Of love and lusty feelings freed from strife.
It takes much pain, to awaken my anger…
But tonight it rose as a slumbering dragon.
My pain was great, old memories to stir…
And I drowned in them like a large flagon.

My burning spirit, ablaze with fires of love…
Soars, within and without, below and above.
On my wings of light, which no eye discerns,
Bearing me forth, in passion that ever burns!

Your words to me, so filled with all hatred,
Dripping with the bile, of your ancestors…
Drove a knife through my heart, blood red.
You know not: what evil, hatred confers!
At Shimabara, they tried to break my will,
As my flesh was but a sheathe, I the blade.
My mind is sharp, with a fire none can kill,
And I was reborn from ashes and shade…
Fourth Child of Heaven I once was called.
Some uttered my name in blessings divine,
Whilst others were, by my nature appalled!
It is sorrowful, that hate persists with time.
Does the beauty of my soul offend you so?
Then pluck your eyes away and look not…
Lest your gaze look into mine and thus go,
Down into the hell your words so wrought.
Must I be the eternal rebel; seeking peace,
Whilst struggling forever within every age?
Some battles never end and cannot cease,
So long as there lies within humanity, rage.

My burning spirit, ablaze with fires of love…
Soars, within and without, below and above.
On my wings of light, which no eye discerns,
Bearing me forth, in passion that ever burns!

I cannot heal the spirit, of those now lost…
Though my compassion would mayhap try.
For my own sake, I must realize the cost…
So let the wicked ones, any salvation deny.
I know them not; for me they did not care!
More love, shall I show unto all my friends.
Those who walk with me where we dare…
Shall know true happiness that never ends.
A long way from Hara, in a long ago era…
I have journeyed, down many lives’ paths!
My soul has known joy and sharp terror…
To brave: the very gods’ own fiery wraths.
Through it all I have endured, resurrected,
From death and hells, to strive once again.
Those I have loved I have ever protected!
Yet, what of they ever eager to condemn?
Hell awaits them, and will claim its’ own…
Mortals damn themselves; God, does not!
One must understand mercy to ever atone.
Is mercy so alien anymore to our thought?
Yet still I show it for my heart is not stone.

My burning spirit, ablaze with fires of love…
Soars, within and without, below and above.
On my wings of light, which no eye discerns,
Bearing me forth, in passion that ever burns!
