sometimes I peel back a seem
from the fabric of our being
then force a reluctant eye through
and become overwhelmed
I see people, clothed
with haircuts and watches
developed by man
in his dying hours
I see resources drained
regardless of the cost
but look how far we've come
we floated through water
squirmed in mud
swung in trees
and walked on the moon
an accomplishment
to be proud of
no knowledge gained
creation forever
enshrouded
we throw ourselves into arms
of deities and entities
whose names should never be spoken
by the sane
I could close my eyes and tell you
that one day poets
will sit on the peaks
of mountains on a frozen moon
and recall what had gone
but
that's lunacy
the bang goes at the finish line
on the last lap
we will revert back to water
as broken atoms floating -
attaching to humble algae
as an unutterable legend that was
Human
and this
the process of
Human
