Nemetona

the vortex,a spiral pattern consisting of a junction in the center
three passages meet, one has a sign that reads, do not enter
i go the way the sign tells me to dismiss
Eleanor of Aquitaine wouldn't have enough thread for this

This maze was made for me
going the wrong way effected my destiny
the trap had been set
a labyrinth filled with regret

maybe the sign was right,
perhaps its to late for insight
i keep walking
the end is what I'm stalking

a confusing network of interconnecting pathways,
wondering why i deserve this malaise
Rosamond the Fair isn't hidden in the middle
what i will find will be another riddle

tripping over some sort of dead stick
i close my eyes and feel slightly sick,
thoughts of a long time past swamp me
when i open my eyes I'm in front of a dieing tree

the tree, caught in the middle of the mystery
it's branches scrawl out my history
unable to look away
i watch it decay

everything that once was, is no more
the tree sways and falls to the floor
tears start to streak my face
i run trying to escape this place

traveling towards an overpass I'm forced to turn around
passing the tree again my legs begin to shut down
pushing my self to the breaking point i continue to flee
looping thru the forbidden passage back to the beginning

no exits out
i scream and I shout
now i take the path to the left
it seems to be the path of things repressed

this bower of insanity
is bringing me to my knees
showing me what i forgot
showing me my internal rot

hedges with angry faces line this mizmaze
you can feel there rage ablaze
i have to double back and take the last route
if only Icarus were here to fly me out

as i race back to where i started
i see the face of my dear departed
he wants to know why i gave up, and why i gave in
and why i killed my spiritual twin

shock and disbelief crowd my head
where is my clew of thread?
why this, why me
needing to leave, needing not to see

to this labyrinth I'm confined
a maze only Daedalus could have designed
falling to floor of the broken path
all i hear is Nemetona's laugh
