Flame of Love and Rebirth

Heart retaining no quota of love,
the spirit desiccated, barren.
Cold vacuous hands,
perceiving disconnection.

Imagination, bewildered and blank,
daydreams distant, detached
Never ending nightmares now lifeless
abandoned by even the ghosts

Relinquishing consciousness,
reality stalling to immobility,
leaving vision paused on freeze-frame
the sound screaming white noise static

Nothingness penetrating, invading,
peculating the final vestiges of life.
Loving darkness offering compassion
within cocooning blackness.

Breathing shallower, slowing,
the chest unaffected,
motionless.

Heartbeat....

once....

(fade to blank)

spark!

A singular point,
blindingly incandescent,
the impression imprinted,
scorched onto the retina.

(fade to black)

Spark! Flame!

A minuscule flare of light,
flickering, faltering, stuttering.
Kindled to become solid, glowing,
illuminating the mind's eye.

A flame of sublime love,
fuelled by peerless devotion,
spreads warming reignition
along dying synapses.

Increasingly brilliant radiance
reclaims the heart, invigorating
beats of life pulsate throughout,
the body now fully cognizant.

The impassioned lantern,
forged with tears and belief,
dispatched with devotion
to be carried on a whisper of wind.

Now lit, the beacon will remain,
acting as shepherding lighthouse,
to navigate the soul to safety.
It will burn for a thousand years.
