Getting There

Realization hit me in the eye
Truth's eternal cry
But what I wanted
Was not what she needed

Sparks flew from moment one
Eyes met and fingers did run
Mind's eye to physical quest
In hindsight was that really best

I responded with a tour de force
Very certain in the goals of my course
Gratification my immediate goal
Not even caring the long-term toll

For the bodily comfort yes indeed was found
But there was yet another sound
A cry to be loved beyond erotic moves
Most graceful and caring in romantic grooves

So when morning came and I was gone
That pleasant sensation for her didn't linger on
She needed to be loved sincere
Not what I provided my ultimate fear

Much too late I realized my mistake
But the coming of my wisdom was too late
So my caution is what I share
Be aware when applying your care

For a woman need not be placed in a pedestal
But also not regulated to an afterthought
Not a fragile doll to be stored away
Rather a growing being who needs devotion everyday
