Jackie's Book of Shadows (CH11)
Chapter 11
I
Following an hour long hike,
through sand dunes, by the
light of the moon, the ladies
arrive at The Field of
Moonlight, where there is
set up: A wicker man.
“You see that wicker man.
That’s where you’re goin,
little man.”
Caramelized air saturates his
bulging eyeballs, mind
beginning to slip over the
edge of sanity, cold sweat
upon brow, quivering upon
entry into epicenters of
hopelessness.
Framed by wicker in the
effigy of a man.
Now he would have time to
reflect…
As the ladies set up.
II
“Hail to the guardians of the
watchtowers of the North…”
Honoria raises dagger to skies,
a pulsating darkness coming to
life as darker clouds surface in
the fabric of space-time, taking
the shape of a spiral, spiraling.
Rianne’s eyes open, sensing
something, pausing the ceremony
with a silent gesture.
The ladies look to the same
point in the horizon.
A figure descending…
“I told you I wouldn’t miss it
for the world, Jackie.”
Walking across the field,
Cipher begins to glow.
III
Head tilted, Cipher peers into
into Jumper’s soul, a trickle
of urine running down his leg.
“I hope you all don’t mind… I
brought some friends with me.”
