You Know What You Done

Verse 1)
The doctor gave me bad news, Lord, my time ain’t long.
But I stood tall in the shadow, tried to stay strong.
When I needed you the most, girl, you turned and ran.
Left me fightin' this demon with my bare hands.

(Chorus)
You know what you done, and it won’t wash clean.
A soul like yours, girl, it’s downright mean.
Left a dying man to battle alone,
May the devil take you down to his throne.

(Verse 2)
We had love like fire, so I thought it seemed.
But fire burns cold when the truth intervenes.
You packed your bags while my body was frail,
Took the light from my eyes and sent me to hell.

(Chorus)
You know what you done, and it won’t wash clean.
A soul like yours, girl, it’s downright mean.
Left a dying man to battle alone,
May the devil take you down to his throne.

(Bridge)
I curse your name on the wind that howls.
I curse your shadow as the dark cloud prowls.
May the earth spit you out, may the rivers run dry,
May your soul never rest ‘neath the cold, black sky.

(Verse 3)
Now I’m sittin' here, a man torn apart,
With a body that’s weak but vengeance in my heart.
The blues are my weapon, my pain is my sword,
And I’ll haunt you forever ‘til you beg the Lord.

(Chorus)
You know what you done, and it won’t wash clean.
A soul like yours, girl, it’s downright mean.
Left a dying man to battle alone,
May the devil take you down to his throne.

(Outro)
The flames are risin’, girl, they’re callin' your name.
You’ll pay your price in sorrow and shame.
You know what you done, it can’t be undone,
The curse is cast, and the song is sung.
