New Religion
Burning bridges behind you
Laying waste to what's always mattered before
You change your life so completely
I wonder what it's all for
Love means nothing
In this new religion
You walk away unfeeling
The past is burning
I wonder how many times you've reinvented yourself
Always sure you could pull off the change
Making new friends and meeting new lovers
Always knowing that you'll leave them behind in the end
I wonder what it's all for
There's no real love
In your newest incarnation
And the past is a smouldering ruin
You live from minute to minute
Judging when the staged exit will have it's fullest effect
What does this carnage look like through your eyes?
What has real meaning in your life?
I have to wonder what it's all for
Does it please you to cause so much pain?
When you're fully ingratiated you pull the plug
And walk out the door
I wonder what it was all for
Laying waste to what's always mattered before
You change your life so completely
I wonder what it's all for
Love means nothing
In this new religion
You walk away unfeeling
The past is burning
I wonder how many times you've reinvented yourself
Always sure you could pull off the change
Making new friends and meeting new lovers
Always knowing that you'll leave them behind in the end
I wonder what it's all for
There's no real love
In your newest incarnation
And the past is a smouldering ruin
You live from minute to minute
Judging when the staged exit will have it's fullest effect
What does this carnage look like through your eyes?
What has real meaning in your life?
I have to wonder what it's all for
Does it please you to cause so much pain?
When you're fully ingratiated you pull the plug
And walk out the door
I wonder what it was all for
